Hampton & R 0 Brentford 2
The Bees continued their final run of form in pre season with a 2-0 win at Hampton and Richmond Borough on Tuesday evening.
The goals came from Alan Connell, his fourth in pre season, and Moses Ademola.
The Bees were the first to show when Luke Ruddick drove in a cross from the left which the keeper did well to cut out.
However the hosts retaliated with a shot from Yaku which flew well wide of the target.
McAuley for Hampton then showed his paces as he ran on deceiving Simon Brown in the process. But triallist Miles Mitchell Coop was well placed to clear off the line.
Midway through the half Alan Connell went close to giving The Bees the lead when his finely chipped effort eluded the keeper and more importantly the top of the crossbar.
Coop then showed his capabilities in a forward position when firing in a long ranger which flew inches wide of the right hand post.
A minute later a terrific save by Brown denied Yaku and a follow up shot by McCauley hit the woodwork with the goal gaping.
The half ended with Moses Ademola picking the ball up outside the area, running on, only to see his shot saved by the keeper.
A long clearance from Brown five minutes into the second half fell to Ademola who wasted the opportunity in front of goal.
Hampton had a goal disallowed in the 65th minute after Brown had thwarted the first effort and the follow up was netted from an offside position.
Seconds later Craig Pead saw his shot scream over the bar.
At this juncture either side looked capable of getting the decisive goal and so it was five minutes later that Connell did so for The Bees. Ruddick picked up the ball in midfield and ran on before Ademola seized on it. He made space in the area and sent over a terrific cross which Connell latched on to, to fire into the back of the net.
Ademola got the goal his pre season deserved in the final seconds of the game when finishing off some great play by late substitute Michael Antonio
